Let's talk about composting.

Are you ready?

My sweet mother recommended more discussions about in my email newsletters so let's do it!

I love talking about composting.

Using something that would otherwise go to the landfill to turn back into soil, amazing.

What you need to remember about the process is to have more browns (carbon) than greens (nitrogen).

What are sources of carbon?

💚shredded paper
💚toilet paper and paper towel tubes
💚wood chips
💚dried leaves
💚newspaper
💚cardboard
💚eggshells

What are sources of nitrogen?

💚vegetable + fruit scraps
💚fresh grass clippings
💚chicken manure
💚coffee grounds
💚old bread
💚meat + dairy (depending on your setup)

Hopefully this helps give you a good idea of what to incorporate into your compost for a healthy balance.

The most important thing to remember is more browns (carbon) than greens (nitrogen). Typically, I aim for a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio.

Next week I'll share more about my specific setup but send me any questions you have about composting in the meantime!

Or if you'd like to hear about something entirely different from me, let me know that too. 😊

🌱TIP OF THE WEEK

Go for a daily walk. Aim for 10 minutes a day.

Since working full time and receiving an hour lunch break, I've started taking part of the hour to go for a short walk around the town. It's been such a blessing to get out of the office, allow my food to digest and break up the day with some fresh air.

I would love if you replied to this email and shared...

Where's the balance? It's snow magical My weekly email habits have fallen off the deep end and are no where to be found. In this season of managing a full time job and having time for anything else, I've sacrificed a lot. The other day, I had the realization that I can't expect myself to do all the things I was doing before I had a full time job. I simply don't have the same amount of time. And that's okay! The morning go by quickly as we rush to get out the door. The evenings are filled with...

Every day I'm puzzlin' This is my favorite time of year to do puzzles because the days of sunlight are shorter and the cold weather keeps me inside where it's cozy. So I'm going to keep this short and sweet because I want to get back to my puzzle! Thank you for being part of my online community. Some of you have been here since the beginning. Some of you are friends in real life. I'm grateful for all of you as well as the support and encouragement you provide. However you're celebrating...
